WHAT IS AGILITY PRIME

The Air Force recently launched Agility Prime, a non-traditional program seeking to accelerate the commercial market for advanced air mobility vehicles (i.e., “flying cars”).

Leveraging unique testing resources and revenue generating government use cases for distributed logistics and disaster response, the government plans to mitigate current commercial market and regulatory risks.

Agility Prime also aims to bring together industry, investor, and government communities to establish safety and security standards while accelerating commercialization of this revolutionary technology.

The Innovative Capabilities Opening, below, establishes a rapid contracting mechanism beginning in 2020 with a “Race to Certification” series to drive government procurement of operational capability by 2023.

Innovative Capabilities Opening – ICO

The Air Race overarching legal document which provides a framework for Agility Prime to write no cost (in-kind) OTA’s (Other Transactional Authority) contracts at a rapid pace to suit the development timeline and structure of potential partners.

The ICO lays out a basic contracting structure involving 3 stages – a submission of proposal, a site visit to industry, and a prototype proposal. Please look at both ICO and AOI contracting documents for proposal submission guidance.

REQUEST FOR INFORMATION – RFI

The RFI is step one of Air Race Participation and also offers a platform for those developing enabling or related technologies to showcase their product to the Agility Prime. A submission to the RFI contains a short presentation on your technology as well as an excel sheet of specifications, if applicable. Please note that an RFI submission is not a direct application for any opportunity in and of itself.

Please include the data sheet with your submission. This specifications sheet is required for all RFI and AOI submissions of vehicles.

AREA OF INTEREST 1

This area of interest is focused on those mature platforms with specifications focused on human transportation over significant distances with more than 3 passengers. These orbs represent a large portion of the market (driven by UBER Elevate) and have the potential to complete a variety of missions in addition to Urban Air Mobility.

Please include the data sheet with your submission. This specifications sheet is required for all RFI and AOI submissions of vehicles.

AREA OF INTEREST 2

This AOI is governed by the Agility Prime ICO (or Opening) and will help the Government assess the transformative vertical flight market and Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) technologies. This effort seeks to establish a collaborative strategy with industry and investors that accelerates fielding of the most promising technologies for savings and utility to the Government, as well as potential commercial market success. As these systems mature toward certified commercial operations, the Government will identify opportunities for early adoption, with the potential for procurement and fielding in the next three years.
